Making Baklava at Home
Baklava is a sweet Middle Eastern dessert known for its incredible texture and flavor. Let’s learn how to make it at home!
Ingredients
- 500 g filo dough
- 250 g walnuts
- 200 g butter
- 150 g sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 250 ml water
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Preparation
- First, chop the walnuts and mix them with the sugar and cinnamon.
- Melt the butter.
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
- Grease the baking dish with melted butter and lay a layer of filo dough, brushing each layer with butter as well.
- Evenly distribute the nut mixture on top of the dough layer.
- Add a few more layers of dough, buttering each layer.
- Cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes.
- Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
- In the meantime, in a saucepan, mix water, sugar, and vanilla extract, bring to a boil, and simmer for 10 minutes.
- When the baklava is ready, pour the hot syrup over it.
- Let it sit before serving.
Serving
