How to Make Pearl Barley Pilaf

Pearl barley is an excellent base for pilaf. This recipe allows you to enjoy a fragrant and hearty dish that is perfect for family dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of pearl barley
  • 2 cups of water
  • 300 g meat (of your choice)
  • 1 onion
  • 1 carrot
  • Salt to taste
  • Spices to taste

Preparation

  1. Rinse the pearl barley under cold water, then soak it for several hours to soften.
  2. Cut the meat and sauté it until golden brown along with the chopped onion and grated carrot.
  3. Add the soaked pearl barley and pour in the water. Add salt and spices.
  4. Reduce the heat, cover, and cook until the pearl barley is fully cooked, about 30-40 minutes.
  5. The pilaf should rest under the lid for another 10 minutes before serving.
