Lenten Borscht: Classic Recipe
This lenten borscht is a wonderful dish for those seeking lightness and rich flavor. It's perfect for adhering to Lent or simply for adding variety to your menu.
Ingredients:
- 2 medium-sized potatoes
- 1 carrot
- 1 onion
- 100 g of cabbage
- 2 tbsp of vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Herbs for garnish
Preparation:
- Peel and chop the potatoes, carrot, and onion.
- In a large pot, pour a bit of vegetable oil and sauté the onion until golden.
- Add the carrot and potatoes, continue to sauté for a few more minutes.
- Then add the cabbage and pour in water (about 1.5 liters).
- Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and cook for about 20-30 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve hot, garnished with herbs.
